Meet the Editor: Journal of Services Marketing

Professor Rebekah Russell-Bennett, co-editor of the Journal of Services Marketing, will join us at the VUB Campus in Etterbeek. She is internationally renowned for impactful research and industry relevance in the field of social marketing (e.g., behavioral change; using commercial marketing to address social problems such as chronic disease, energy conservation, public transport), services marketing, and inclusion of vulnerable consumers.

She will share her expertise and knowledge through three separate activities. Join us on this special occasion!

Program

THURSDAY 13/06

Activity 1: Plenary Workshop from 10h until 12h30 
  • A workshop on “reverse engineering a journal article”. The aim is to help young researchers design a scientific article aligned with their target journal. This workshop is relevant for PhD students from various fields.
  • Participants are required to bring an example paper from a target journal that uses the same analysis technique as the participant is using for a working paper. They should also bring a charged laptop.
  • The editor explains her role in the publishing process of the Journal of Services Marketing.
  • There will be a Q&A at the end of the session.

Activity 2: Lightning session from 12h30 until 17h *FULL*
  • Networking lunch with the editor and selected PhD students.
  • Lightning sessions: during these sessions, each PhD student will pitch their work and receive feedback from the editor and three VUB professors.

FRIDAY 14/06

Activity 3: Research in practice talk from 11h until 13h
  • Talk & lunch.
  • The editor will talk about several practical research projects on “Co-designing nudges: How to involve citizens in improving service delivery”. 
  • This talk will showcase how research can be useful for both industry and policymakers. The editor will demonstrate this through a policy project with the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
  • Open to VUB-external project partners, researchers, and governmental stakeholders!
